On Sept 9, 2009, a rock climbing gym opened in the old Daily News garage in Brooklyn, creating a space for the local climbing community to come together.
I joined early on as Art Director — we were all in our twenties.
Highlights of My Role
Built and led the graphics department, establishing a strong visual identity
Developed expansion proposals that contributed to the gym’s growth into four major cities
Directed the apparel line, including co-branded collaborations with adidas and Eastern Mountain Sports
Draw On Me: A Community-Driven Marketing Campaign
To foster community engagement, I helped launch Draw On Me, a campaign where community members submitted original apparel designs, with winning selections chosen through public voting. I initiated the concept and was deeply involved in bringing it to fruition, overseeing everything from ideation and promotion to marketing design and final production to retail supply.
This campaign and many others not only brought the community together but also gave members a direct role in shaping the gym’s identity.
