Doorsteps

Doorsteps is an app designed to guide first-time homebuyers in NYC through the complex home-buying process. It offers a suite of educational tools, including interactive quizzes, informative maps, and practical checklists, helping users navigate their journey with confidence.

Doorsteps was built for Jane, our first-time homebuyer.

Jane has spent 10 years trying on different apts, different cities, different lives. Now she's looking for a place to call home. Home is more than a house, it's a feeling. It's all the silly stories hidden in all the quirky little streets. It's about how the house and the neighborhood come together.

For Jane, finding a home is about understanding who she is, knowing why she'd be excited to move, and what would matter to her once she got there.

Doorsteps is a suite of tools to help Jane buy in an informed, responsible, confident manner.

Understanding Our User's Journey

Buying a home for the first time can be overwhelming—filled with unfamiliar jargon, new relationships, and uncharted experiences.

To design a truly helpful experience, we focused on deeply understanding our users' journey. By identifying their unique pain points, we not only built empathy but also framed the problem in a way that led to more innovative and user-centered solutions.

The Challenge

How do we effectively engage users with complex, often dry home-buying information that can feel overwhelming?

Our Solution

We focused on making the experience user-centric while prioritizing simplicity.

The home-buying process often involves navigating a wealth of detailed information and determining what is relevant to each user's unique situation. With Doorsteps, we streamlined this process by asking a series of targeted, interactive quiz questions. This enabled us to deliver personalized, easily digestible information that directly addressed each user’s needs, ensuring both clarity and engagement throughout their journey.
